Sisterkoko are Lizzie & Faga, a Christchurch sister duo who love making delicious treats using organic 100% cacao, or as they call it in Sāmoan ‘koko’. The revitalised koko industry in their father Eddie’s homeland of Sāmoa in recent years has propelled many more villages to increase Theobroma Cacao farms for the growing demand of their beans near and far.In 2018 the sisters knew they wanted to actively participate in growth of the koko industry, even if they lived in the much colder Garden City; they worked wintry Canterbury evenings to plan and find ways to make their dreams of creating jobs for themselves, and families, whilst also working to make an impact on reducing the effects of climate change in the wider Pacific. Although 2020 has brought unusually hard times, it has also birthed the company that will bring many of their ideas and hopes to fruition.
They use only biodegradable, sustainable and compostable packaging, removing the use of and need for plastics.
Sisterkoko make yummy rich 100% cacao brownies; you eat them, and we each do a little bit for our environment, it’s a win/win.
